Le Cheval Cuivré is a contemporary sculpture that reinterprets the silhouette of the horse through a refined, airy composition.

Created in forged carbon fibre and enhanced with copper fragments and copper-leaf gilding, this artwork explores the contrast between the depth of black and the warm reflections of metal.

The horse's body seems to extend into an ascending movement, like a ribbon rising and unfolding. Its flowing curves create a silhouette that is both powerful and delicate, inviting the eye to follow every movement.

Resting on a block of gold-veined Portoro marble, the sculpture combines the visual lightness of carbon fibre with the mineral presence of natural stone.

The Story Behind the Artwork

Capturing the Essence of Movement

With Le Cheval Cuivré, R. Delsemme continues his exploration of movement and lightness through one of his favourite subjects: the horse.

Rather than faithfully reproducing its anatomy, the artist chooses to retain only its essential lines. The head establishes the animal's identity, while the body gradually transforms into a fluid, almost abstract form.

This encounter between figuration and abstraction invites the viewer to complete the sculpture through their own imagination, allowing each perspective to reveal a different interpretation.

Forged Carbon Fibre and Copper

Forged carbon fibre holds a central place in R. Delsemme's work. Originally associated with industry and high-performance engineering, this material becomes a means of artistic expression.
